Definition: Problem Solving is the whole of thought processes or the field of cognitive science involved in finding solutions for various kinds of problems.
Examples of approaches and methods used in this field are: abstraction, analogy, Eight Disciplines, heuristics, hypothesis testing, intuition, Lateral Thinking, Kepner-Tregoe, means-ends analysis, proof, reduction, research, root cause analysis, trial and error, TRIZ.
