Validated Learning

Definition: Validated Learning is a rigorous method coined by E. Ries for demonstrating progress when one is embedded in the soil of extreme uncertainty in which startups grow. It is the process of demonstrating empirically that a team has discovered valuable truths about a startup's present and future business prospects. It is based on the assumption that some piece of learning / improvement work is incomplete, if not completely useless, if the company does not VALIDATE that the "improvement" indeed brings real benefits to the users, for which they are willing to pay.
To guide such learning, metrics should be used that are: Actionable, Accessible and Auditable (The 3 A's of Metrics).
