Deficit Reflex

Definition: the Deficit Reflex is the automatic impulse or tendency of higher managers to identify gaps, weaknesses, and problems rather than focusing on what's already working, and how that could be amplified".
The deficit reflex feels responsible, but it actually drains energy, triggers defensiveness, and obscures what actually drives performance.
One major technique for avoiding this phenomenon is the Appreciative Inquiry approach.
