Nonprofit Organization

Definition: a Nonprofit Organization is an organization that uses economic means to achieve its goals rather than distributing them as profit or dividends.
An NPO could generate surplus revenues (profit), but they must be retained by the organization for its self-preservation, expansion, or plans.
In some legislations, the fact that an NPO is not aimed at making profit (no lucrative purpose) is essential.
Also called NPO, not-for-profit-organization, Civil Society Organization, or short: nonprofit.
