8 Disciplines

   

Definition: the 8 Disciplines is a problem solving and quality assurance methodology for product and process improvement by identifying, correcting and eliminating the recurrence of quality problems.
It is structured into eight disciplines (phases), emphasizing team synergy. The team as a whole is believed to be better and smarter than the quality sum of the individuals.
ED is also know as 8D Problem Solving, Global 8D, Ford 8D, and TOPS 8D.
8D is used and can be combined with Continuous Improvement, Root Cause Analysis, Total Quality Management, Ishikawa Diagramming, 5 Whys.
